The 2023 Nissan Ariya has great looks, excellent interior space, respectable driving chops, and more than adequate range for even the most hesitant EV adopters. It feels deliberate and not like something thrown together.
When it comes to electric vehicles, Nissan is well ahead of other Japanese auto manufactures. Honda and Toyota have a lot of catching up to do. Meanwhile, Nissan is sure to keep moving its technology forward. Well done Nissan.
Nissan announced it is partnering with British adventurer Chris Ramsey, to undertake the world’s-first all-electric driving adventure from the magnetic North Pole to the South Pole in a Nissan ARIYA e-4ORCE.

Starting in March 2023, the epic Pole to Pole expedition will see Chris Ramsey travel some 27,000 km (16,800 mi) from the Arctic through North and South America, before crossing to Antarctica. Ramsey will be the first person to drive from pole to pole in an electric vehicle.
With predicted temperatures ranging from -30⁰C to 30⁰C (-22⁰F to 86⁰F), the route will negotiate some of the world’s most extreme, brutal, and yet breath-taking scenery. From snow-covered glacial landscapes to treacherous mountain climbs and vast desert dunes.
2022 Nissan Ariya
The new 2020 Nissan Ariya fully-electric Crossover SUV features a range of up to 310 miles and another variant has a 389 hp.
Pre-orders for Nissan’s second EV are now open, ahead of first deliveries expected to begin in the summer of 2022, with prices starting at £41,845 (~ CDN$70,000 / €49,000 / US$ 55,300) for the ‘entry’-level car, with front-wheel drive and a 63kWh battery. This variant has a range of 359 km (223 mi) on the WLTP cycle.
The faster Ariva with the bigger 215bhp motor reaches 0-100 KPH (62mph) in 7.5 seconds.
The larger 87kWh battery is available from £51,090 with a more potent 240bhp 2WD powertrain – for a range of 310 miles – or £53,790 with the e-4orce four-wheel-drive powertrain, which can be had with either 302bhp or, in range-topping, £58,440 e-4orce Performance guise, 389bhp.
The e-4orce Performance model can cover 0-62mph in a claimed 5.1sec and, like the other e-4orce models, has a top speed of 124mph (25mph more than the single-motor cars).
The production-ready Ariya retains the bold styling of the concept unveiled at last year’s Tokyo motor show and showcases Nissan’s new brand identity with “seamless, elegant and fresh” styling. It shares the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s new CMF-EV electric architecture with the smaller Renault Mégane E-tech Electric, and Nissan operating chief Ashwani Gupta said it represents the start of “a new chapter for Nissan”.
Nissan Ariya Single Seater
Called the Ariya Single Seater, it serves to demonstrate “how the all-electric Nissan Ariya road car powertrain could be used in a bespoke single seater racing car chassis”.
The firm has not yet confirmed that it plans to produce a functioning, full-sized example – nor indeed plans for a dedicated race series using the car – but Autocar understands that Nissan hopes to produce a working version for dynamic displays at Formula E races.
The concept is related to the production SUV in more than just name: the front is decorated with a similar, light-up V motif, while the side is claimed to take inspiration “from the Ariya’s fluid and efficient surfaces, exaggerated to a maximum in carbonfibre”.

The 2023 Nissan Ariya is coming, and on Tuesday, the automaker announced reservations are officially open for the SUV along with prices. The least expensive way into an Ariya will cost buyers $47,125 after a $1,175 destination charge, but the costs climb to just over $60,000 when optioning out a top-of-the-line model.
The trim breakdown for the Ariya is pretty simple with the Venture Plus trim serving as the base model, Ariya Evolve Plus as a midgrade option and the Platinum Plus as a range-topping version. For those that take part in the reservation process, there’s one special edition model available, too. That’s the Premiere trim, which won’t be sold at dealers when Nissan starts stocking them with the EV next year. Every trim except the Platinum Plus features an 87 kilowatt-hour battery with 238 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. EPA estimates aren’t in yet, but Nissan thinks it’ll do 300 miles on a charge. Front-wheel drive is the only option for these three trims.
