Hands-on look at the 2025 Sony Honda Mobility Afeela EV

2025 Sony Honda Mobility Afeela Concept

Bottom line, we mostly liked the Sony Honda Mobility Afeela concept car’s interior. It delivered the multimedia experience we expected, with car controls that (yoke aside) are fairly conventional and straightforward. Like the rest of the car, the Afeela concept’s interior strikes us as realistic and producible. Sony plans to take orders in 2025 with initial customer deliveries in 2026, and we should see something closer to a production car long before then. Aside from some desperately needed rear headroom, we’ll be happy if there aren’t too many changes from the concept.

After several interesting electric-vehicle prototypes over the few years, Sony made its EV ambitions, announced a new EV brand called AFEELA. Technically, the new EV concept comes from Sony Honda Mobility, a joint venture between the two Japanese companies. Together, they revealed the prototype of a beautiful new all-electric sedan that they plan to sell, perhaps as early as 2026.

The concept will be part of a new brand called AFEELA, but we don’t yet know what name the production version will use. AFEELA plans to start taking orders in 2025 and expects to start deliveries in Canada and the US in the spring of 2026.

AFEELA models will also be sold in Japan and Europe. A SUV, a second sedan, and an minivan are under consideration by SHM.

The first prototype AFEELA presented at CES sports 45 cameras and sensors placed inside and outside the vehicle.
