It’s award season and the finalists for the 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year award have been announced. They are »

What’s more, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the Nissan Ariya, both EVs, are also finalists for the overall 2023 World Car of the Year award. Interestingly the Nissan Ariya didn’t make the final cut for the EV of the Year 🤔. The Kia Niro is a contender for the overall award. The Kia Niro is available as a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a full-time EV.

That Lexus EV the company was talking about last year? It’s coming, it has a name, and it’s (unsurprisingly) based on the Toyota bZ4X electric crossover, co-developed with Subaru’s Solterra. And given the close relationship with Toyota platforms and Lexus models, and the economy of scale benefits of sharing development costs with a partner like Subaru, this all makes a lot of sense. But will the resulting Lexus RZ battery-electric SUV make sense as a product?
