Power Edison to install a 200 fast charging hub in the NYC area

Power Edison is partnering with Hugo Neu Realty Management to deploy, what they cite as the largest electric vehicle charging hub in the United States.

This signature project — to be comprised of more than 200 fast chargers — will be sited at Kearny Point Industrial Park, New Jersey, just 10 minutes from the Port Newark-Elizabeth Marine Terminal, and 10 minutes from New York City.

It is anticipated that this EV charging hub, serving the high-traffic Tri-State region, will power thousands of EVs daily — in addition to charging electric marine vessels.

Pamela Frank, CEO of ChargeEVC-NJ, a business association comprised of diverse interests that advocates for electrification of transportation, said »

Delivering more than 200 megawatts (200MW) and 4800 megawatt-hours (4800MWh) of daily capacity, Power Edison’s new hub is an exciting and impactful EV super charging site.

Yazan Harasis, Director of Projects at Power Edison, added »

Our engineered power solutions will initially offer over 250kW of power per charger and scale up to over 1MW per charger as vehicle technology evolves. This enables industry-leading fast charging for light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles alike. Inherent in our design is flexibility, modularity and ability to integrate renewables, batteries and other technologies for added sustainability and resiliency.

To help meet the need for EV charging solutions, Power Edison launched a new subsidiary called EV Edison dedicated to the development of high-power fast charging hubs.

Large parts of the world are not ready for zero-emission vehicles, which is why Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) did not sign a pledge this week to phase out fossil-fuel cars by 2040, the world’s largest automaker said o Thursday.

“In many areas of the world such as Asia, Africa, Middle East … an environment suitable for promoting full zero emission transport has not yet been established,” the spokesperson said. “We think it will take more time to make progress…; thus, it is difficult for us to commit to the joint statement at this stage.”

The idea is to show that EV use across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, is not just ‘for the odd occasion’… It can be a ‘daily occurrence’… ‘the norm’!

The EVROS taking part during COP26. On Monday electric vehicles set off from Glasgow on a 5-day, 1200+ mile ‘e-Tour of Scotland’, taking in many of the beautiful landmarks in the country, but most importantly, showcasing the charging infrastructure across the region at the same time.

By the end of the week, the EVROS will have taken in every corner of Scotland, including a Western Isle, and will have completed more than 1900 km (1200 miles).

Participating EV automakers include Kia, Maxus, Stellantis, and Polestar.
